It does take a while to become accustomed to Nathan's style of narration, but when one does, Nathan is a good narrator for a number of reasons. I started this with some trepidation having read too many reviews from disappointed readers. I did get to know Nathan, because he is telling the story, and then later Solomon too. It is one thing to speak hard truths to a king in that strange voice that rises up unbidden from the earth and echoes with the power of the heavens. "David, then, was an outlaw.
