Things go awry when they begin to find things that... Style: serious, suspenseful, scary, rough, suspense. Humanoids From The Deep is a straight down-the-line, unashamedly trashy monster movie that doesn't try to be any more than it is, and I like it a lot. Technically, it's not a great film. Denise Galik as Linda Beale. Country: Mexico, USA. For the most part Humanoids is standard monster fare, the focus volleying back-and-forth between the humans attempting to comprehend the horror and the humanoids that are trying rather successfully to kill and impregnate. Humanoids is variety brand monster mayhem, basically the same as its predecessors, only absent of any prestige. They occasionally stop to rip off heads and innards, but the gore effects are so bad that the filmmakers shouldn't have bothered. I know it came after this film, but when I watch Humanoids From the Deep, something always catches in the back of my mind, and I finally figured it out this time: this film is Redneck C. H. U. D. So imagine the premise of C. but instead of urban homeless victims, we get rural fishermen, and instead of sewer mutants, we get somewhat Lovecraftian river mutants. It all takes place at a small fishing village locale; young women are found raped; dogs are killed; and racial tensions between whites and Indians are escalated due to the happenings. The movie was originally offered to Joe Dante who turned it down. Not bad to see a woman directs a more or less anti-women movie even though Corman hired someone else to shoot extra sleaze-footage.

Barbara Peeters (aka Barbara Peters) directed it. In any case, it adroitly mixes monsters, gore, nudity, an ecological message and even some social commentary [a typical Corman trait in his pictures which were set in the present day] into the cinematic equivalent of junk food which probably isn't very good for you but sure is tasty in a superficial way and goes down a treat at the right time. The humanoids from the deep actually look pretty good, the costumes & effects really conveying their threat. Country: USA, Japan. This is an old-fashioned B movie/exploitation feature. Another one of the many successful folk who started their careers in Corman pictures, his eerie, often dissonant and musically quite complex scores for films like this, are to me often more interesting than his later Hollywood work. 98: HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP AKA MONSTER [1980]. Nobody knows who plays the villain and its such a one note character, no one cares (his sudden affection for his missing wife at the of the film is beyond unbelievable). Far from it, the creatures thrive as bloodthirtsy killers, threatening to annihilate a small coastal town by slaughtering the men and abducting the women for mating! Also, Dagon is shown to be a man-sized monster, and I would have preferred the full DAGON that is a towering beast. In addition to Mutant Fish-Monster rapes, this movie is pretty brutal, even by the grimy standards of 1980 exploitation films. Not helping matters much is local fisherman and crank Hank Slattery (Vic Morrow, who began his career playing angry, psychotic young men and ended it playing angry, racist old men). Word spread among young guys and male teens back then and this was a modest hit for Roger Corman's New World Pictures.
Humanoids From The Deep Full Movie
Story: A menacing shark-like predator attacks a Hawaiian tourist area in this low-budget creature feature. Humanoids From The Deep is a fairly entertaining relic of the pre-CGI 1980s where the monsters are actors who had to suffer for long hours in 100 pound suits in terrible weather conditions for our entertainment. In all fairness, Humanoids from the Deep is a worthy, yet thoroughly sleazy, piece of horror and suspense cinema from an era in which most low budget entities were primarily concerned with the amount of boobs and blood on the screen, and for that, we should all be thankful. Story: An experimental submarine, the "Siren II", with a very experienced crew is sent to find out what happened to the "Siren I" after it mysteriously dissapeared in a submarine rift. But her experience on Humanoids may help explain why Corman didn't have more women working for him. After this begins a series of attacks by humanoid sea creatures where human males are killed but the females are raped…. Humanoids is an entertaining horror movie provided you're able to look past the disgraceful exploitation of women in it. Story: Dr. Emma Collins and her team are spending their third summer on the island of Little Happy studying the effect of climate change on the great white sharks who come to the nearby nursery every year to give birth. It is said that his philosophy was that the monsters should "kill all the men and rape all the women, " and that is exactly what they attempt in this film. Style: rough, suspenseful, scary, serious, cult film... It never gets to the point of being a horror-comedy, but nobody would mistake this as an art-house slow-burn film, either.

It was later remade in 1996. Story: Doctor Baines has been conducting genetic experiments on piranhas and has made them virtually unstoppable. After a nest of fishmen is discovered in a maze of waterfront caves, Dr. Drake finally drops her cold exterior and turns against her employers to explain just what the hell is going on and where these darn fishmen came from. The two monster rape scenes, and by extension the whole idea that these creatures want to mate with human females. Later, Carol's dog goes missing and the two find its dismembered corpse on the nearby beach. Roundly criticized for its grim and humorless attitude, violence and gore, barely explored Native American rights vs. modern industry story, and most especially its explicit rape scenes by people who apparently have no idea what an exploitation or grindhouse movie is, the 1980 version still stands tall as the uncompromising entertaining trash it was designed to be precisely because of all those things. There was a remake in 1996 for Showtime TV.

Attack of the Beast Creatures1985. It rips off everything from The Creature From The Black Lagoon to Jaws to Alien, though to me it's always seemed closest to a forgotten [and very hard to see] effort from 1959 called The Monster Of Piedras Blancas. Things seem just dandy there for a few minutes, at least until the head of the local Indian community, Johnny Eagle (Anthony Penya), files a lawsuit to stop the cannery and save his people's fishing rights. A local named Jim working with the scientist Dr. Susan Drake to get to the bottom of what is going on. Rob Bottin, who would later go on to create the creature effects in John Carpenter's The Thing and Joe Dante's The Howling, designed the Humanoids as well as the gory aftermath of their killings, and both are quite convincing, if slightly crude. It's the infamous Mutant Fish-Monster Rape movie. Becoming more and more alienated from normal society, he develops an ability to communicate with sharks telepathically, setting... Doug McClure as Jim Hill. Overall the script is mostly just concerned with racing the story along at top speed but does have the odd loopy touch like a hilarious bit involving a couple about to have sex, the man being a ventriloquist with a dummy in the tent with them.
