One of the things I enjoyed about this was the fact there were twists and turns that weren't overplayed for dramatic effect but kept you guessing. Sharpened Fish Hook. There was a twist at the end but then the story ended- it would've been nice to read more about the characters during present day and even in the future. Recommendation: I highly recommend The One That Got Away to anyone who enjoys romance. Not your average romance, this book brings a lot of heart. Several decades later, a bombing in the city where Clara met Ben and developed mutual feelings brings her back. Packed full of depth, character and realism. I LOVED this book so much! Figluster's mudfish is a surprisingly quick bottom feeder found in the waters of Nagrand. Although this was more of a depressing book, I appreciated the honesty in it and the way Rixon addressed issues and I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. Would love to read more from the author.

I went into this book thinking it was going to be this one thing, and it turned out to be the complete opposite. Thank you to NetGalley and Aria & Aria for the opportunity to read early. They each made their own mistakes together and separately. There are some very serious topics in this book but all written about with sensitivity and with a way of holding the attention of the reader. The question is, can they overcome all the pain of their past or will they say goodbye to each other forever? They wanted to love each other and they had such a connection but life simply got in the way. Thank you Netgalley and Head of Zeus for allowing me to prerelease read this book. However, I enjoyed the book, it's a duel POV that alternates between the present day and the past. A number of time periods take place within The One That Got Away and each chapter tells you which year the chapter is situated in.

I love reading the occasional romance/chick-lit book. This was more emotional and dramatic than I anticipated! Another thing I didn't like about her, was how she treated Thom and how she was clinging to love that never lasted. It's quite good in my opinion. Can't recommend this book enough! It's a story about the power of first love, the repercussions of mistakes that are made, and how a tragic incident can bring people back together. I was cheering for them to work through their issues and fall apart at the very same time. I recommend this book, you can read it in a day.

I found it particularly interesting because my partner and I met and feel in love in college and it brought back my own memories from this time period. The book has a lot of angst, especially in the earlier timeline, but it's all well-written and I grew to care for and root for these characters. For that, I applaud the author. Please tell me you caught that son of a carp. Dropping everything, Clara gets on a train and lets the magnet draw her back in. Any of these islands, so long as they still say you are in the Misty Reed, will work. All of the characters were very believable and I felt invested in their lives and wanted to know how they were going to end up. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this copy! Does it cover some dark, triggering topics, yes. The dual point of view will take you through Claire's and Benjamin's lives in the years leading up to the bombing and their various life mishaps.

I was hooked from the first page - honestly it was such a great way to start the book!!!! Deeply flawed characters trying to get better. Thank you NetGalley and Aria & Aries for sharing this book with me. My second book read of the New Year but this one will stay with me for a long time. It was an intense relationship. This is not your typical second chance romance type of book, it's heavy and full of hard topics (cheating, child sexual assault, abuse/assault, alcoholism, death of a parent, suicide/bombing) So if you're looking for a light second chance romance this is not it. I received this advanced right from the start it had me hooked.

Content Warnings: The present timeline revolves around the aftermath of a terrorist attack. Personally, I was not a fan of Clara's character, she felt possessive and somewhat irritating, yet there were aspects of her story that made me want to like her. "I just feel sometimes like my life has gone off-track somewhere. With some unexpected twists and turns, I absolutely loved this book. The story is extremely slow paced as far as romance is concern, which is something I don't tend to appreciate but I really did appreciate here.
An engaging read with a multilayered plot. I really enjoyed this, and read it in a day. At the beginning, this book felt like I was watching a late 90's movie, I don't even know how to explain the feel, but I absolutely adored it. The dual timeline brought us back and forth 20 years, seeing a romance unfold, but interspersed with post university life, I loved this and read it in one sitting ❤️❤️. There are lots of different plot lines all running alongside each other, some connect, some don't, but the author has done a fabulous job of holding the tension and suspense high throughout. Regardless, keep reading to find out about how to quickly take your skill from 1 – 375. Neither of them can forget about the other and keep checking on them via social media twenty years later. It was literally at the 88 percent mark that it was finally revealed. For me, the story of Clare and Ben rang true, as awkward and loving and confused any pair of young lovers might be, making the contrast to their current day selves all the more fascinating and heartbreaking. This book left me breathless and speechless by this story of first love and redemption. These two couldn't make it work as young people-too much about themselves- and parted.
