If you get in the trunk looking up at the rear speaker magnets you will see some bars crossing from side to side, those are the springs that hold it up. The pressure from the oil inside the hatch shock caused the frozen/weakened seals to crack and leak oil out. It's hard to ask around for sedan specific stuff. These get dirty, break, and just don't spring back up after a while if you don't keep them clean & lubricated. If not then you might want to check into that. It didn't have auto open or close but it won't stay up when it is cold outside. That time, the gas struts need to be replaced and were no longer holding up the hatch.
