If you fancy giving this book a go it will be released on 21 February. It reminded me a little of Pet Sematary and the idea that death is not something to be tampered with. I just wish the execution of everything would have been handled better, and I think I would have enjoyed the story a lot more. There was something missing throughout this book, and a lot had to do with the fact that there was no context for anything that was happening with the characters or what they had found. The characters, the scenery, and the whole plot are so well thought out and executed. I thoroughly enjoyed the writing style of this book, I think all the twists and turns were in the right places, and it was a true page turner for me.

Joe Thorne was fifteen when his little sister went missing for forty-eight hours; she came back but for Joe she really didn't. You see C. Tudor has a way with words, they just flow and make you lose track of time. The book kept me wanting to turn the pages to find out what happened next. Excellent book with a great storyline. After the way things ended with his old gang--the betrayal, the suicide, the murder--and after what happened when his sister went missing, the last thing he wanted to do was return to his hometown. Is that a problem – not for me personally but I can't speak for others. But "The Taking of Annie Thorne" is even better because of its well-crafted story, the unique characters and the creepy atmosphere.

There are glimmers of responsibility seen, particularly when he gets a job as a teacher, but it is the character's inability to face up to his actions that causes drama and conflict. Joe has a lot of skeletons in his closet and you never see where the next one will pop out. 'Wonderfully creepy - like a cold blade on the back of your neck' Lee Child. There is a creeping dread on every page'' Daily Mail.

It made the reading of each timeline easier to follow, and was very interesting to observe how he has changed outside of the book.
